Denise Swanson on the Lam

The Sun and Moon put on a nice show in Carbondale, Illinois. We watched as the Moon gradually covered the Sun.

Then a big cloud covered both 10 minutes before the total solar eclipse. Oh no!

Luckily that cloud drifted out of the way with a few minutes to spare, so we saw totality in all its glory. Exciting!

It was amazing to see everything around us turn dark like twilight, and a red sky on the horizon all around us. We saw some of the brighter stars in the sky too.
