Left Brain: "Requirements and limitations can be creative challenges. My assignment was to compose exactly 1 minute of music as background for a commercial for the Scumble River Mystery book series by author Denise Swanson. The music had to be somewhat memorable but not intrusive, and paint a portrait of the fictional small town of Scumble River, Illinois."
Right Brain: "I love to create good tunes. My first draft was 45 seconds, so the need for 15 more seconds inspired me to add a 1-bar introduction and two 1-bar bridge passages, plus a 6-bar coda for solo horn and trumpet. This rounded out the music quite nicely. It's a bit quirky, but so is Scumble River."
